| DOHMS Launches first-aid course |

DUBAI Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS) on Tuesday launched a first aid training programme for the mem- bers of the Dubai General Committee for Youth and Sports. Head of Dohms Admin- istration Affairs Abdulla Mohammed Bin Soqat said that the specially designed course was expected to impart necessary skills among the participants to deal with emergency situations and injuries. DOHMS Emergency Department will conduct the training sessions weekly once with aparticipation of 12 members in a session. Emergency Services trainer Ahed Najjar said that Dohms experts will teash trainess the methods and skills that can be used to save lives before the arrival of medical staff. The training sessions inclued lectures on avariety of medical emergencies, first aid lessons, and skills to be used in cases of strokes, epilepsy, bleeding, fractures, heat exhaustion and burns. The participants will also learn about resuscitation for cardiac patients. They will be enlightened on topics related to heart attack symptoms. Fractures and treatment of burns, injuries and head and spinal column strokes. The course will include a practical training session and the participants levels of per-fformance will be assessed through an exam to be held on Aug.17 |
