Blood donation is collected in the Blood Donation Center In Department Of Health & Medical Services by appointment from the regular or casual donors. Moreover, donation cessions are conducted by special arrangements in places in Dubai outside the center (e.g. hotels, factories, schools…etc.).
The amount of blood collected increased steadily over the last few years due to increase patients’ demands.
The thalassaemia patients of Al Wasl Hospital consumed a major portion.
The blood donation is tested extensively for blood group serology and microbiology virology.
A continuously updated virology-screening program is done according the latest international standards.
A PCR laboratory in now fully established in the center.
The center also provides virology serology services for the patients and medical fitness customers of the DOHMS. These include HIV, HCV, Rubella and Hepatitis Viruses.
